A French gilt-brass and black marble eight day revolving globe timepiece Charles Henard & Cie., Paris, the globe by Maison Delamarche, Paris. Circa 1880 The 8 in. (20 cm.) terrestrial globe with coloured paper gores and inscribed GLOBE/ADOPTÉ/PAR LE CONSEIL DE L'UNIVERSITÉ/Maison/DELAMARCHE Rue Serpente 25/PARIS , the oceans showing warm and cold currents, the Continents showing mountain ranges and with national borders shown, the globe mounted on its axis above a mechanism geared to the clock's going train and above a horizontal glass calendar ring with bevelled edge, within a plain gilt-brass meridian circle, with calendar pointer to the front, the globe manually adjustable from the side, white enamel Roman dial with blued steel Breguet hands, the single barrel movement with Brocot escapement, the back plate numbered 259 , raised on adjustable feet above a base plate stamped CH.HENARD & CIE/A PARIS and PENDULE COSMOGRAPHIQUE DE MOURET , the whole mounted on a stepped black marble plinth with gilt-incised decoration to the front; pendulum, ivory-handled crank key 21¾ in. (55.5 cm.) high
