A French Art Nouveau medalist stick pin by Germain Desbazeille, depicting Aurora riding the winged horse Pegasus, the pin with French poincons and maker's mark G*D for Louis Desbazeille; and another French Art Nouveau medalist stick pin by L Cariat, depicting the profiles of two French revolutionary women beneath the outspread wings of a cockerel, signed L Cariat to the front, French poincon marks to the pin Desbazellie was a Parisain family jewellery firm founded by Louis Desbazeille in 1877. When the business was taken over by Louis' son Germain in 1886, he made it one of the poineering atelliers in Paris for medalist jewels, which the firm began to manufacture in 1889, and which have become recongised as collectable for their contribution to French Art Nouveau jewellery.
