A Fragmentary Roman Marble Relief Head of a Muse, mid 3rd Century A.D. her heavy lidded eyes with drilled inner corners, incised irises, and drilled circular pupils, an incised line above each eyebrow, her centrally parted hair arranged in two rows of curls above the ear, bound in a fillet and tied in a chignon, traces of a feather above the forehead and of the sarcophagus wall in back; no restorations. Height 16 cm. 6 5/16 in.
