A Football Association International Trials purple and white quartered felt cap awarded to Joseph Bache of Aston Villa for 1910-11 season, having white embroidered FA monogram and 1910-11 to front, bears no makers marks to the interior. Provenance: Passed down to the current vendor through family decent. Joseph Bache was born in Stourbridge in 1880 and played for Aston Villa between 1900 and 1914 until WW1 with 431 appearances with 167 goals, being part of the team that won the FA cup in 1905 and 1913, after WW1 later played for Mid Rhondda in 1919-20 and played / coached for Grimsby Town in 1920. Joseph Bache played seven matches for England 1903 to 1911 scoring four goals in seven games. In the 1920’s he moved to Germany as a coach including Mannheim FC.
