A Fine Platinum and Diamond Ref. 3435 Wristwatch, Patek Philippe, Circa 1963, 34.00 mm case diameter, white dial signed PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE, round single and baguette cut diamond numerals, silvered feuille hands, fluted polished bezel, water resistant snap on case back, Cal. 27-460 self-winding 37 jewel rhodium plated nickel lever movement with 18 karat gold rotor adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions with fausses côtes decoration and signed PATEK PHILIPPE & Co., black crocodile strap, platinum buckle signed PPCo. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe extract from the archives stating Movement Number: 1.113.279, Calibre: 27-460; self winding, Case Number: 2.621.535, Style: Reference 3435, platinum, Type of dial: Diamond hour markers, Date of manufacture: 1963, Date of sale: July 3rd, 1964, Bracelet/Leather strap: Leather strap. The watch is presented in a sealed plastic Patek Philippe service packet. Estimate $ 50,000-70,000 The popular Reference 3435, first offered in 1960, combined the rare attributes of a superb highly-jeweled, self-winding automatic movement and a water resistant case that does not incorporate the more typical screw down design but rather a specialized snap on back. The present example, with its platinum case, represents a tiny fraction of the overall production. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only platinum Ref. 3435 ever to be offered at auction with an original diamond-set numeral dial. The watch is in very good condition overall, the dial shows original patina and slight areas of discoloration (see photo) in the lower left quadrant, painted signature is bright and clear, diamond numerals are pristine, hands show no signs of wear. The bezel, outer band and case back show no appreciable wear (due to Patek factory refresh). The strap and buckle are in new condition.
