A FINE PAIR OF SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND EAR PENDANTS
A FINE PAIR OF SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND EAR PENDANTS Each set with a pear-shaped sapphire, within a pavé-set circular-cut diamond surround, to the similarly-set pear-shaped diamond surmount, joined by a square-shaped diamond, mounted in gold, 5.1 cm Accompanied by premium report no. 87826 dated 20 September 2016 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the approximately 27.00 and 26.00 carat sapphires are of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the pair of sapphires possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The sapphires have been carefully selected for their attractive colour and fine purity, thus resulting in a perfectly matching pair of sapphire ear- pendants. The few tiny inclusions found by microscopic examination and the analysed properties are consistent with those found in sapphires from the classical mines in Ceylon (Sri Lanka)-also known as the ‘Island of Gems’. Their attractive blue colour is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in these gemstones, which are typical and characteristic for the finest sapphires of Ceylon. Assembling a pair of natural sapphires from Ceylon of this size and quality is rare and exceptional US$450,000-700,000
