A fine, mainly brass, early 19th-Century model single cylinder, six pillar, rotative beam pumping engine, with cylinder 1½in. bore x 2.3/8in. stroke, inward facing centrally mounted valve chest with separate steam ways and valve operated through eccentric rod and rocking levers, simple parallel motion with barrelled links, pierced beam with bearings mounted on the entablature with chamfered edges in turn supported on six doric columns, pump rod with gibbed and cottered big end, the crankshaft, with cast iron spoked flywheel, turning in two main bearings on decorative trunnions. The brass floor is mounted on a polished mahogany plinth and display base and is finished in green and polished brightwork -- 15 x 15½in. (38.1 x 39.4cm.) See Illustration
