A fine early 19th-Century German 8-inch diameter terrestrial table glboe, GLOBUS TERRESTRIS Entworfen von Ioh:Gab.Doppelmeier und gestochen von Ioh:Georg: Puschner neu vermehrt und verfertiget, von Ioh:bernh: Bauer Mechanicus in Nürnberg 1808 , made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, with graduated equatorial, ecliptic and Fero meridian, various explorers' tracks with dates and arrows, a decorative cartouche pertaining to the meridian, variously and delicately-shaded nation states, cities, rivers and mountains in pictorial relief, with a stamped brass meridian in a four-legged oak and mahogany Dutch-style stand, the octagonal horizon with applied hand-coloured engraved paper with the two degree scales, Zodiac and calendar scales, saint's days, wind directions, and delicately-coloured corner decoration -- 30.5cm.
