A fine early 19th-Century English 6-inch diameter celestial table globe, A New Celestial Globe by Dudley Adams 60, Fleet Street, LONDON, 1808 , made up of two sets of twelve split half-gores laid to the ecliptic poles, the axis through the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month with Zodiacal sigils, the colures ungraduated, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments and named in English, the stars to several orders of magnitude (no key), some named, others labelled with Greek characters, in a stamped brass meridian circle, the hand-coloured paper horizon circle with degree, calendar and Zodiac scales and wind directions, edged in red, the mahogany stand with four baluster-turned legs united by cross stretchers -- 27.3cm.
