A fine collection of covers, cards and cancellations, including New South Wales 2d. Sydney View cancelled by French style rhomboid of dots (once thought to have been used in New Caledonia, now known to have been used at Sydney), New South Wales Diadem 6d. (2) on undated front to Port de France "By first vessel from Sydney" , 1862 stampless cover to France (with original letter) showing "PORT DE FRANCE/NOUV.CALLEDONIE" c.d.s., 1868 stampless cover from Noumea to France showing "8" (decimes) charge mark, 1875 cover from France to Noumea bearing 25c. and with two "AFFRANCHISSEMENT/INSUFFISANT" cachets in red, 1864 cover from France to Port de France (arrival backstamp) bearing a pretty trio of 10c., 20c. and 40c. adhesives, 1876 cover from Noumea to France bearing General Issue 1872-77 Cérès large figures 10c. and 30c., a thorough representation of cancellations including 1877-79 Sage 30c. brown irregular block of eight cancelled "POSTES/LIFOU" and many other values to 1f. including pairs; issues for New Caledonia with 1859 10c. grey-black apparently cancelled by framed "PF", also military and maritime markings, registered, postage dues, New Hebrides used in the New Hebrides. A most interesting collection. (many hundreds)
