A Fine Cased Presentation 54-Bore Beaumont-Adams Patent Five-Shot Double-Action Percussion Revolver No. 41343, circa 1862 With gilt scroll engraved octagonal barrel with blued fore-sight, the top-strap engraved 'Charles Nephew & Co. Calcutta.', gilt scroll engraved serial numbered frame and cylinder, gilt scroll engraved rammer and trigger-guard (gilding worn on the last three), blued safety-stop, arbor pin catch and trigger, horn butt, gilt scroll engraved pierced pommel set with six small malachite bosses and an oval agate cap , and much original finish: in original fitted rosewood case lined in red velvet with accessories including gilt scroll engraved Hawksley flask, brass bullet mould for conical bullets, and scroll engraved oil bottle, the lid stamped and gilt 'By Appointment To The Royal Family' above 'R. Adams, Patentee Of The Revolver' with address below the royal coat-of-arms, Prince of Wales's crest and motto in each corner, and partly gilt foliage and scrollwork, the exterior with elaborate pierced brass mounts engraved with foliage, and shield-shaped escutcheon engraved with owner's initials above three thistles, London proof marks 11¾in. (29.8cm.)
