IMPERIAL, JINGDE ZHEN KILNS, JIAQING FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-RED SEAL SCRIPT AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
A FINE AND VERY RARE ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLE IMPERIAL, JINGDE ZHEN KILNS, JIAQING FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-RED SEAL SCRIPT AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820) Of flattened form with flat lip and foot, finely enameled with a continuous scene of Shoulao holding a staff and peach and with a crane standing on clouds above crashing waves, the other main side with Magu, the Goddess of Longevity, bearing a jar of lingzhi wine ferried across the sea by an attendant in a willow boat, all between gilt and underglaze-blue lappet and ruyi borders, the waisted neck decorated with floral scroll, the base with four-character mark in iron-red seal script reading Jiaqing nian zhi (Made in the Jiaqing period), glass stopper with integral finial and collar 2 25/32 in. (7.1 cm.) high
