A fine 19th-Century lacquered-brass portable equatorial telescope theodolite, signed Dollond. London , the 9-inch telescope with lens cap, bubble level, side aperture and crosshair adjustment screw, mounted on one end of a horizontal axis, the other end with 4-inch vertical circle with silvered scale, twin verniers and magnifiers, fine-screw adjustment and clamp, raised on two A-frame supports mounted on an alidade arm with vernier and magnifier to the equatorial plate, with degree scale, hour scale and silvered minute scale, eight-point wind rose with fleur-de-lys, fine-screw adjustment and clamp, mounted on a horizontal axis on two A-frame supports with graduated vertical half-circle with vernier and clamp, over the 7½-inch horizontal circle with glazed compass with edgebar needle and clamp, twin bubble levels, silvered circumference scale with three verniers, fine-screw adjustment and clamp, on a splayed tripod foot with three adjustable screw feet fitting brass divots in a mahogany base plate with tripod mounting beneath, in a fitted mahogany carrying case with brass handle -- 46.6cm.
