A DOUBLE-GOURD-FORM CELADON EWER koryo dynasty (12th-13th century) Moulded with a gently curved, oval spout and rope-twist handle with top loop for attachement to the cover, incised on the large, lower body with a lotus spray on opposite sides and with a serrated, leaf-form outline surrounding the spout and the lower handle where they join the body, and with an additional slender line of foliage within the leaf-outline below the spout, covered overall save the circular foot ring which encloses a nearly flat, recessed base, with a blue-green celadon glaze with variegated crackle, pooling thicker and emerald in the recesses and with a uniform lustre; fitted with a pointed circular cover moulded with a small attachment loop also glazed celadon 9 7/8in. (25.3cm.) high
