Fluted one-piece skull, the apex with fluted finial on a large oval washer; lower edge riveted with a narrow band having a sawtooth panel above and a plain panel below, the front fitted with rounded brim pierced for the sliding nasal, it's finial and wing nut worked as fleur-de-lys; the back edge with neck defense of four riveted lames, each with undulating upper edge. Cheek pieces of three lames with rolled rims, the uppermost with circular piercing. Condition: Showing rust patination with some areas of light pitting. Cheek pieces re-leathered. See Illustration
