(A) COLT MODEL 1860 ARMY .44 CALIBER PERCUSSION REVOLVER.

Post Civil War production (1868) civilian "New Model Army" (NMA), 5th variation, not cut for shoulder stock. 8-inch round barrel chambered in .44 caliber, Six-shot rebated cylinder with strong roll-die Naval battle scene. Brass trigger guard with steel backstrap. Matching serial numbers on barrel, frame, cylinder, trigger guard, backstrap, and wedge. One piece varnished walnut grips. Pictured on page 294 of the book: "The Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver" by Charles W. Pate. Gun allegedly belonged to a Swiss emigrant who came to America during the Gold Rush area. Until recently, the revolver has been exhibited in a Swiss museum. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Barrel has a sharp New York address and retains a pleasing blue gray patina Most original varnish on grips.
