Lot consists of: (A) Savage Model 1861 Contract Rifle Musket with 40" bright steel barrel dated 1863. Savage lock is dated 1863 as well. Full length walnut stock, 3-flat barrel retaining bands, and 3-leaf rear sight. CONDITION: Very good as lightly polished. Very good rifled bore with slight darkness in lands. Stock is full sized but missing cartouches. Lock, bands and barrel all are lightly polished. Action operates properly and has proper 1861 Pattern swelled loading rod. (B) Model 1863 Contract Bridesburg rifle musket with 40" bright steel barrel, 3-machined barrel retaining bands, and 3-position rear sight. Barrel and lock both dated 1864. CONDITION: Good with metal having been lightly polished with all marking remaining. Bore is very good with light roughness in lands. Wood has been lightly sanded and treated with danish oil. Action operates properly and rifle retains proper straight tulip tipped loading rod.
