Title: A Collection of Various Forms of Stoves, used for Forcing Pine Plants, Fruit Trees, and Preserving Tender Exotics. Author: Robertson, William Place: London Publisher: R. Ackermann Date: [1798] Description: two preliminary leaves and 24 aquatint plates (22 colored), interleaved with descriptive letterpress. (4to) 35.5x29 cm (14x11½") early marbled boars with modern linen backing, all plates and leaves stub-mounted when rebound. First Edition. One of the earliest Ackermann publications. Issued simultaneously in French and English, Robertson's work offers advice and plans for heating of greenhouses, conservatories and orangeries for the cultivation of particular exotic fruits and plants, and a plan for a kitchen garden. Abbey Life 62. A particularly wide-margined copy, about an inch taller than the Abbey copy which was recorded at 13 x 9 1/8". Lot Amendments Condition: Boards a bit worn, some foxing to endpapers; internally near fine. Item number: 287422
