A collection of Georgian and William IV tokens. Consisting of a Coventry Street Water Filtering Stone London copper token, the obverse depicting water dripping through a filtering stone, dated 1795 beneath and reading FOR PURIFYING WATER with the obverse reading COVENTRY STREET LONDON in the field and encompassed by the words THE FILTERING STONE WARE-HOUSE, an East India Company One Quarter Anna coin, dated 1835 and a George III London Corresponding Society Copper Halfpenny, dated 1795 with the obverse depicting a philosopher showing onlookers the fable of the sticks and reading LONDON CORRESPONDING SOCIETY and the reverse depicting a dove with an olive branch and reading UNITED FOR A REFORM OF PARLIAMENT together with an I.K. Picard's Hull Lead Works Half Penny dated 1812. 1.1 in (2.8 cm) diameter, 1 in (2.5 cm) diameter, 1.1 in (2.9 cm) diameter, 1.1 in (2.7 cm) diameter. (4 items) Provenance: This lot came from The Ronald Goode collection at the Pumphouse Educational Museum in Rotherhithe. The Museum housed a fascinating private collection of artifacts discovered on the Thames foreshore in Rotherhithe along with an interesting collection of Peak Freans biscuit factory items which once existed locally in the area. The later collection also included a magnificent six foot iced replica of Queen Elizabeth II's wedding cake with a letter of thanks from Elizabeth II which was on permanent exhibit at The Pumphouse Museum.
