Collection of documents from the estate of Abba Eban (1915-2002), Israel’s "number one diplomat" who, starting from the 1950s served as the Israeli ambassador to the United States, Israel's ambassador to the UN, Minister of Education , Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Information , chairman of the board of Foreign Affairs and Defense, and other positions . The collection in front of us includes: memos and speeches that Abba Eban delivered in front of the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council; transcripts of speeches delivered by Eban, many of these discuss the relations between Israel and Palestine and the peace process; prints of his letters, documents from the period when he served as the Minister of Education and the Minister of Culture; copies of press releases; drafts of manuscripts or printed essays with comments, notes and corrections in handwriting, various materials regarding the Six Day War; documents from his position as the chairman of the foreign affairs and defense committee at the 11th Knesset (Israeli parliament); Eban’s translation of “Oedipus the King " by Sophocles (from Greek); a record painted in gold with golden symbols of the State of Israel and the UN. The record is of the voting of the acceptance of the State of Israel to the UN Council. Sixteen books from Eban’s library, many of them with Eban’s markings and dedications to him, among these: Itamar Rabinovich's book , the Brink of Peace, The Israeli-Syrian Negotiations (1998). On the first page of the book Eban wrote: " What did Rabin Promise Clinton? P. 115-119 " and a book about Jimmy Carter, " The Inauguration of President Jimmy Carter and Vice President Walter F.
