A collection of boxing memorabilia relating to the career of Hugh ‘Pat’ Floyd, four time ABA Heavyweight Champion of Great Britain, 'The greatest amateur heavy that England has ever produced', according to Daily News, New York 1935. An extensive, archive of boxing memorabilia, relating to the career of the decorated amateur boxer Hugh 'Pat' Floyd, documenting his nineteen-year career that commenced with his first fight, aged sixteen, on 29 March 1927, to the conclusion of his fighting, career in 1946, comprising: an autograph book, containing signatures collected by Hugh 'Pat' Floyd over his boxing career, includes numerous opponents and other boxing greats, to include, but not limited to: Ted 'Kid' Lewis, Harry Mallin, J J, Braddock, Jack Dempsey, Joe Bewker, Primo Carnera, Alex Buxton, Tommy Farr, Petey Sarron, Mohammed Ali, Jim Watt, Henry Cooper Eddie Thomas, John Conteh,Terry Downes and others, together with the 1935 International Golden Gloves United States vs, Great Britain Heavyweight Championship belt, the gilt and enamelled buckle set with a diamond, approximately 0.35ct and on striped satin band, the buckle engraved to the reverse, won by[BLANK] Yankee Stadium, New York, NY July 2, 1935, 12cm, across, a British Empire Games 1934 patch, his Frank Bryan Service Champion boxing gloves, a selection of his trophies, to include: his silver 1946 ABA Heavyweight title trophy, the last of four ABA Championships won by Floyd, seventeen years after, his first title win, a span that is still a world record to this day, and four other trophies to include a silver cup awarded after victory over H De Gooyer in a charity tournament held in The Royal Albert Hall, on behalf of The Duchess of York, Maternity Clinic at the Royal Free Hospital, 14 December 1932, a large twin-handled silver trophy cup hallmarked London 1928, possibly his 1929 ABA Heavyweight Championship trophy, also three ABA certificates, his 1932 Championship of England, runner-up certificate, and an ABA Championship of England certificate awarded for his 1935 title victory over Roger Hunter of the Metropolitan Police, who at 7ft and 18 stone was dispatched by knock out within one round, two further ABA, Championship runners up certificates awarded 1932 and 1938, an archive of photographs, some signed, depicting Floyd and his contemporaries, signed examples include Terry Allen Jack Powell, Joe Bowker, J W Treadaway, Charlie Spinks, Turpin, etc.,, and three albums of newspaper cuttings and ephemera documenting his entire life and career, both in and out of the ring (qty.)
