Standard percussion Civil War Gallager carbine. Someone stamped "C.S.A." into the rear of the lock at some point, this marking is not original. By serial number, this is one gun away from an identified 1st New York Cavalry issued one. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have been cleaned, markings are weak due to cleaning. Bore is fine with strong rifling. Stock has also been cleaned, the wood sits below the tangs. The left side of the stock has had a 4-1/2" by 3-3/4" piece of wood inlaid into it. Good mechanical function.
