Each 10 1/2 inch three-stage, blued and fluted octagonal barrel with twelve-groove rifling in .44 caliber. Top flats inlaid in gold Acier Fondu. Scroll-engraved breeches, locks, spur triggerguards and buttcaps with French grey finish. Locks signed in gold M.J. Chaumont/Ft A Liege within gold scrollwork. Varnished burl walnut half-stocks, the fore-ends and fluted grips with intaglio-carved scrollwork panels. Wrists with vacant shield-shaped gold escutcheons. Complete with original rosewood veneer case. Lid with vacant brass escutcheon and brass and zinc banding. Green baize-lined interior containing complete range of accessories including cleaning and loading rods, mold, screwdriver/nipple wrench, powder measure, ladle, oiler, wadcutter, nipple primer, etc. Condition: Excellent. Barrels retain 97-98 percent dark blue finish with some light scratches and minor spotting. Locks and furniture excellent. Stocks with light marks. Lid of case with several cracks and some losses to brass inlay. Front edge of lid missing thumbnail insert and upper brass fitting for lock. Lining showing minor wear and few small tears.
