A cased 50-bore Liege percussion target rifle by Nicolas C. Lardinois, Armr. Et Arquebusier De S.M. Le Roi Des Pays-Bas, dated 1853 With massive blued barrel signed in gold on the matted rib, the breech with gold letters 'LG', the 'Perron de Liège' in gold between, above the date 1853, hooded fore-sight and adjustable back-sight, partly matted and engraved tang fitted with a windage adjustable peep-sight, signed flat lock with bevelled tail, engraved with rococo ornament and flowerheads, and retained by a folding wing-headed side-nail, varnished figured walnut full stock, extended butt with cheek-piece, engraved iron mounts including spur butt-plate, hinged indented trigger-guard inlaid in gold with owner's initials within a silver-inlaid sheild, detachable set trigger mechanism, shaped engraved barrel-bolt escutcheons, boldly chequered turned horn hand support, horn fore-end cap, and original German silver loading funnel: in original lined and fitted brass-mounted oak case (some damage) with accessories (mostly missing) including ramrod, cleaning rod, horn flask and key (horn hand support and flask worm damaged), the lid escutcheon engraved 'Mr le Professeur Everard' 26 1/8in. (66.3cm.) barrel
