Serial no. 16354, 16 gauge. 30 inch barrels with smooth, concave rib finely scroll-engraved at the breech and inscribed John Rigby & Co. 72 St. James's St. London and at Dublin Whitworth Steel. 24 7/8 inch barrels sequentially inscribed E.J. Churchill (GunMakers) Ltd./8 Agar Street, Strand, London W.C.2. Smooth, concave rib inlaid in gold at the breech end XXV. Finely scroll and border-engraved sidelock action on the Rigby-Bissel rising bite system. Fences chiseled with leafage. Double triggers. Ejectors. Gold Safe. Finely checkered pistolgrip stock with drop points and checkered butt. Checkered walnut splinter fore-end with Rigby's Patent release. Fabric and leather-covered case with blue interior. Lid with E.J. Churchill label notated in ink with dimensions of this gun and suggested loads with the date Oct. 1924. Lid also with two John Rigby London trade labels, one for 72 St. James's St., the other for 43, Sackville St. Accessories include sectional cleaning rod, oiler and two Cogswell & Harrison snap caps. Condition: Fine to excellent. 30 inch barrels retain 98 percent reblued finish showing some muzzle wear. Excellent bores. 25 inch barrels retain virtually all reblued finish. Excellent bores. Action with clean bright metal and sharp engraving. Release lever with reblued finish. Fine wood showing scattered light marks. Case exterior showing wear and staining. Lining showing staining and mothing. Labels stained, one Rigby label with losses. Accessories very good.
