INDIA, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY
A BOMBAY THREE-PIECE TEA SET AND A MADRAS COFFEE POT INDIA, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY Comprising a tea-pot, sugar pot and milk jug and another coffee pot; the repoussé decoration of the tea-set depicting village scenes within niches, each with plain escutcheon, the teapot with hinged lid with bulbous knop decorated with repeating hut motifs beneath large tropical trees, with serpentine spout and angular handle, each stamped 'NFCO Bombay' at the base; the Madras coffee pot on plain base, with gently flaring repoussé body with a religious procession scene and wide shoulder with hanging palmettes, the hinged near-flat lid repoussé with depictions of various local trades, the knop lacking, the spout worked in the form of a scaled mythical beast, the handle depicting Vishnu subduing the serpent king Kaliya Tea pot 6 ¾ (17.2cm.), Coffee pot 7 ¼in. (18.5cm.) high
