A BIZEN OSAFUNE KATANA MUROMACHI PERIOD (MIDDLE 16TH CENTURY), SIGNED BISHU OSAFUNE SUKESADA Sugata : Sugata : shinogi-zukuri with iori-mune and chu-kissaki ; nagasa : 2 shaku, 2 sun, 4.7 bu (68.1 cm.); strong koshi-zori of 2.5 cm.; horimono : bo-hi . Jihada : itame . Hamon and boshi : illegible. Nakago keitai : Bizen and ubu ; nakagojiri : kuri-jiri ; mekugi-ana : one; mei, katana-mei: Bishu Osafune Sukesada . Shirasaya . Ito-tachi-goshirae: nashiji saya emblazoned with gilt fundame aoi-mon (some chips); triple mokogata tsuba lacquered with fundame shippo on a roiro ground and fitted with a gilt copper 'cat-scratched' mimi ; the silk-wrapped tsuka is fitted with gold menuki of circling dragons; the remaining mounts are shakudo ishime with raised, gilt edges ending in sworls, unsigned, 19th century. Silk and silk brocade storage bags. Together with a black lacquer tachi stand emblazoned with aoi-mon . Together with a Tokubetsu kicho ninteisho , no number, dated Showa 34 (1959), issued by the N.B.T.H.K.
