A baby carrier (parzin) from Zakho, woven in black and red fibres and with floss silk pompoms, designed for wearing on the back to carry babies, goods to market etc., and still in use, 45cm x 53cm including tassels, (E-Med-77) Bought Zakho, Oct. 1992; a manÆs crocheted cap from Kirkuk, predominantly in black and white and with patterns including a triangular amulet. (E-Med-80). Given by a lady who bought it in the suk of Kirkuk in 1957 or 58; a Kurdish manÆs cap from Zakho, crocheted in blue and white. æSuch caps were worn by Kurds in N. Iraq with red/white or black/white keffiyeh wound round.Æ (E-Med-75), and a manÆs black felt cap from BersivÒ. æThese caps (kulav) were still made and worn by Christian men, when I was there.Æ (E-Med-76).
