A 9ct. gold Inter League representative medal 1932, inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE, ENGLAND V IRELAND, WINDSOR PARK, BELFAST, OCTOBER 1ST 1932; sold with a 9ct. gold medal inscribed B.P.C.A., PRESENTED BY LEWIS'S, CHAMPION TEAM, DIVISION 1, 1932, in a case (3) These medals were won George Brown of Aston Villa. Brown had been bought by Villa for £5,000 in August 1929 from Huddersfield Town, where he had proved himself as a prolific striker. George Brown won 9 England caps and was a member of the Huddersfield team that won a hat-trick of League Championships between 1924 & 1926. He was also a F.A. Cup finalist in 1928. Brown represented the Football League on three occasions including the Irish match for which the first medal in this lot was presented in 1932.
