A .240 (HOLLAND'S APEX) MAUSER SPORTING RIFLE BY HOLLAND & HOLLAND, No. 2653, 'Best Quality', recoil-block, blued finish, stock with pistolgrip, colour-hardened pistolgrip-cap (with trap), cheekpiece and leather-covered recoil-pad, sling-eyes, matt-top receiver-ring, barrel with block-mounted open-sights and ramp-mounted bead-foresight with folding protector, the receiver mounted with a Redfield 4X telescopic-sight in Holland & Holland quickly-detachable mounts (No. 2653) Weight 8lb. 4½oz. (with telescope), 14½in. pull, 23½in. barrel, nitro proof Holland & Holland have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed circa 1957 as a 'Best Quality' stalking rifle. It appears to have been relatively little used
