In a bid to emulate the competition successes of rivals Bultaco and Montesa, Ossa hired English trials star Mick Andrews in 1967, a move that culminated in the MAR - Mick Andrews Replica - that carried its creator to consecutive European Trials Championships in 1971 and '72. Indeed, the MAR proved so successful that it remained in production until the late 1970s. A potentially competitive mount for classic ‘twin-shock’ trials events, this Ossa MAR was purchase new by Cornish road-racer David Hughes who very soon decided that ‘off road’ was not for him. The tax disc and documents were returned to the DVLA, a vehicle retention certificate issued and the Ossa spent the next 30 years in dry storage. Over the last seven years the current owner has ridden the MAR occasionally on private ground and advises us that it rides ‘as new’. Described as in ‘A1’ condition, the machine is offered with Swansea V5.
