The Society was founded in 1847 and is still extant today. The subjects covered include molluscs, retiles, elephants, corals, a wide variety of flora and many others. The list of contributors is distinguished and include Charles Darwin and Richard Owen, both of whom are represented in the volumes on offer here. The run comprises 26 volumes of the yearly issue (covering 1880 to 1905), each of which contains individual parts of several monographs, and 69 volumes plus a quantity of original parts which are bound up to form individual monographs. There are also volumes comprising title-pages and reports.
