Wessing Willemsz., 1779, (44),384,(2)p., bound by the ROCAILLE-AND-FLOWER BINDERY in burgundy morocco w. central lozenge-shaped ornament of a basket with fruit and flowers on both covers, surrounded by an inner panel consisting of a swag roll on either side of a double vertical fillet, and w. an outwardly pointing floral and vegetal decoration at the upper and lower side of the panel, within rich floral borders along outer margins, backstrip decorated w. rich floral decoration on the compartments between the raised bands, dark blue letterpiece, a.e.g. - A very fine copy. = On the Rocaille-and-flower bindery (act. between 1775-1812), see Storm van Leeuwen I, p.671ff: "(...) splendid bindings (...) a binder more important than it now seems (...)."
