(historiated) initals, contemp. richly blindst. pigskin w. ties, both covers showing central panel w. roundels w. the heads of i.a. Philip Melanchton and Martin Luther, both surrounded by border showing Adam, Abraham, David, Christ and Mary and Joseph. - Heavily annotated copy. Owner's entries op title-p.; partly waterstained in outer (mostly blank) margin. Sm. tear in upper joint; large stain on backcover; pigskin sl. soiled; corners bumped. = Recto of last blank w. manuscript Latin poem titled "Ad Lectorem pro historiae commendatione Glareanij Carmen". Probably an annotated copy by the Swiss music theorist, poet and humanist Heinrich Glarean (1488-1563), who is known for this type of annotations throughout in i.a. classical works.
