MANUSCRIPT map ON VELLUM, pen and brown ink and watercolour (mainly grey-blue, yellow and ochre), trapezoidal shape, max. 68x61 cm., dated "1592" on the column bearing the compass rose, framed. - Old folds and creases and a few sm. marginal tears; sl. cut short at the left (sl. affecting the 'W' of "West"). = Somewhat casually drawn but interesting map with numerous topographical names in Dutch and a few in Latin (also a few annots.). The IJssel river is represented as the historical Fossa Drusiana, a canal dug by the Romans. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CLVIII.
