Miniature in colours and gold in the style of Simon Marmion 5,4x4,1 cm., on verso of a leaf from a Book of Hours(?), Southern Netherlands, ±1460, Latin text in black ink on vellum, lettre bourguignonne, rubricated, ±12,1x8,6 cm. (leaf), 6,2x4,1 cm. (text), lines, one 4-line dentelle initial, one 2-line dentelle initial, 2 line-fillers, 3/4 border w. flowers, fruit and a painted grotesque in left, right and lower margin (verso), vegetal border in right margin (recto), both in colours and gold. = Contains a prayer to St. Gregory on verso accompanied by a miniature depicting the Mass of St. Gregory the Great where Christ appears above the altar with two men to his left and right. The kneeling figure to the right has turned his back towards us. His posture closely resembles another kneeling figure in the exact same position in the right corner of the miniature by Simon Marmion in the La fleur des Histoires (Brux., Royal Library, Ms. 9232, ca. 1455). The end of a prayer to St. Nicolas precedes on recto. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXXXVI.
