Sie wurden von Thomas Milton (Th./B. XXIV, 572) nach Vorlagen Luigi Mayers (Th. B. XXIV, 490) gestochen, der 1776-92 als Zeichner für Sir Robert Ainslie, den britischen Botschafter in Konstantinopel, tätig war. Neben zahlreichen schönen Kostümdarstellungen zeigen sie dekorative Ansichten von und aus Jerusalem, Bethanien, Bethlehem, Cacamo, Makri, Rhodos, Knidos, Zypern, Korinth, Karthago, Tripoli, Gizeh, Alexandria, Heliopolis, Abukir, Rosetta, Kairo usw. - Vollständiges, breitrandiges Exemplar, durchgehend gering (nur selten stärker) gebräunt u. stockfl., teilweise Abklatsch der Tafeln auf den gegenüberliegenden Textseiten. Der repräsentative Einband etwas berieben u. bestoßen, Geenke fachmännisch erneuert. - Gest. Exlibris Christopher Tyrnor, Stoke Rochford Library. The first two works with the title-page of the first edition, the third work with that of the first French edition, but all three with later impressions of the plates (up to 1812); complete and in fine contemporary colour, good margins, some light browning and foxing throughout, some offsetting of plates to text, in mid-19th century calf gilt, some wear and bumping, hinges restored.
