with unmarked 30.8" single-edged blade with 12" false-edge and 3/4 length fuller, with etched scrollwork and U.S., unmarked, single-piece cast brass quillon/guard/knuckle bow with scrolled quillon, open floral guard and reeded bow with slot for sword knot, cast brass stepped oval pommel with 1/4 backstrap with laurel wreath, shagreen grip with braided brass wire wrap; total length 37". Black leather scabbard with brass throat with single carrying ring, matching middle band and brass drag, total length 30". Provenance: Property of the former First National Bank of Fremont, Indiana Condition: Blade has been lightly cleaned and has a dingy grey overall look. At the end of the blade there is some heavy-to-medium pitting. Etching on blade is visible, but thin. Shagreen handle is quite worn, but intact. Leather sheath shows some cracking and crazing. Metal tip with some dings and mars. Sheath does not properly fit blade.
