(Archéologie) - - NAVILLE, Édouard.- 5 works, mainly in first edition and illustrated, one enriched with photographs. In-f°, cardboards (slightly browned, foxing, defects)


The Swiss egyptologist Naville (1844-1926) first visited Egypt in 1865. In 1882, he worked for the newly created Egypt Exploration Fund and excavated sites in the Nile Delta (Tell el-Maskhuta, Bubastis, Wadi Tumilat...) and at the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut where he was assisted among others by Howard Carter Works published between 1885 and 1910 in London under the direction or as memoirs of the Egypt Exploration Fund : (1). The store-city of Pithom and the route of the Exodus, enriched with 6 photos stuck on one leaf (statues, sphinx or steles), handwritten mention of Joseph Pollard (2). The festival-hall of Osorkon II [Great Temple of Bubastis], (3). Ahnas El Medineh (Heracleopolis magna) - The tomb of Paheri at El Kab by F.Ll. Griffith, 2 parts in 1 vol.
