Ein bisher unbekanntes Blatt aus einem um 1480 für ein oberitalienisches Olivetanerkloster angefertigten Antiphonar, v. dem die Staatliche Graphische Sammlung in München 8 weitaus weniger breitrandige Bll. sowie 8 Ausschnitte besitzt; weitere 6 Ausschnitte befinden sich in Berlin, London, Minneapolis u. Wien. Ausgemalt wurde die Handschrift v. Giovanni Pietro da Birago (tätig 1471-74 in Brescia, c. 1480-90 im Veneto, 1494-1500 als Miniaturist am Hofe des Ludovico il Moro in Mailand, bis 1513 in Mailand). 18 Z., 2 Spp., schwarzbraune Rotunda mit roten Hervorhebungen, röm. Choralnotation auf vierzeil. rotem System, recto 9, verso 8 Lombarden in Rot oder Blau mit Federwerk-Verzierung in der Gegenfarbe, darin kl. Ornamente in der Lombardenfarbe (Granatäpfel, Beeren, Blüten, Olivetanerzeichen), verso zweizeil. Init. "D", goldener Buchstabenkörper gefüllt mit weißem Vogel auf Blau, über weiß damasziertem karminrotem Grund, links auslaufend kleine Dornblattleiste in Gold, Grün u. Blau. - Breitrandig. Recto leicht berieben, sonst wohlerhalten. A hitherto unrecorded leaf from an antiphoner illuminated c. 1480 for an Olivetan monastery in Upper Italy by Giovanni Pietro da Birago , court miniaturist to the Sforzas at Milan. 14 cuttings and 8 trimmed leaves of this ms. are preserved in libraries at Munich, Berlin, London, Minneapolis, and Vienna. With one two-line initial in gold and various colours showing a bird with raised wings, and 17 small criblé initials in red and blue.
