4 vol., comprising Justine, signed presentation inscriptions from the author to half-title, ownership inscription to endpaper, bookplate of author loosely inserted, jacket a little spotted and browned at spine, short closed tear to foot of lower joint, 2 small chips to head of spine, 1957; Balthazar, signed presentation inscriptions from the author to endpaper, jacket lightly browned at spine, 2 very short closed tears to head of upper panel with accompanying minor creasing, 1958; Mountolive, 1958; Clea, jacket with closed tear and accompanying creasing to foot of upper joint, 1960, first editions, original cloth, dust-jackets, excellent or near-fine overall, 8vo, 1957-60. *** A superb set, the Alexandria Quartet is now commonly regarded as one of the great works of the 20th century.
