Worsted wool, machine-sewn, with double-appliqued cotton stars in six rows of six stars. Approx. 82 x 126 in. Cotton hoist with hemp rope through the sleeve, loops on the ends. This flag became official immediately after the Civil War (July 4, 1865) with the reintegration of Confederate states and the addition of Nevada in Oct. 1864. It was only the official flag for two years when Nebraska was added as the 37th state. Condition: Several areas of stains, appear to be grease or similar, as if stored in a garage. Some separation of canton from hoist, and horizontal tears in canton. There is also an area of heavy wear to one corner of fly, as is fairly common.
