THE FERRARI 360
Ferrari's most successful model since the 308, the F355 was always going to be a hard act to follow. Clearly, in order to surpass the outstanding F355, its successor would have to break new ground rather than offer mere incremental improvements. By starting with a clean sheet of paper in designing the 360, Ferrari and its partner Pininfarina succeeded in doing just that; the new car attracting superlatives that put even its illustrious predecessor in the shade. Just about the only item carried over from the F355 was its glorious V8 engine, enlarged from 3.5 to 3.6-liters for the 360, producing 400bhp. Mounted longitudinally behind the similarly disposed engine, the 360's six-speed gearbox could be ordered with the F1-inspired paddle-operated gear change pioneered on the F355.
THE MOTORCAR OFFERED
This stunning Ferrari 360 Modena was completed at the Maranello-based Ferrari factory right around the turn of the Millennium, as a 2000 model-year, US-market example. A stylish Pininfarina-penned Coupe version - hence the Modena model name - the car was fitted with the desirable gated 6-speed manual transmission, making it so much more desirable now more than 2 decades later. The Modena was finished just as it appears today, with the elegant aluminum bodywork finished in the rare and desirable 'Blu Tour de France' metallic color over a 'Cuoio' leather interior, with neatly contrasting dark blue piping and upper dash parts.
The first owner would take possession of the car in Southern California during January of 2001 and appears to have retained the desirable mid-engined Ferrari for about a year. The CARFAX report on file documents further ownership until this day, along with service/maintenance performed and milage recordings. Today, this striking 'Blu Tour de France' 360 Modena presents in original and well-kept condition, with less than 25,300 miles recorded on the odometer at time of cataloging. The clean Pininfarina-designed Coupe bodywork displays excellent fit and finish, and the luxurious leather interior shows just light signs of use. A comprehensive service was recently performed, where a new set of Michelin tires was fitted on the original 5-spoke Ferrari wheels, along with a full vehicle detail. The Ferrari is offered complete with books in leather pouch and tools.
The 360 Modena is now ready for showing or driving on your favorite roads where you can unleash and experience the power and glorious sound of the twin-cam, mid-mounted V-8 engine, while in superb analog control through the gated shift manual transmission. Already a seasoned collectible Ferrari, this 360 Modena stands out among the herd in its stunning livery and less common Coupe, six-speed configuration.
