THE PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 3.2
Starting in 1963 with the original 911, Porsche has produced a line of six-cylinder rear-engine sports cars that could compete with much more powerful cars thanks to their low
weight and superior handling. Introduced in 1984, the Carrera 3.2 was the last iteration of
the classic 911 before the large changes of the 964. The Carrera 3.2 produced 217
horsepower at 5,900rpm, which was delivered through the desirable Getrag G50 transaxle
from the 1987 production year and onwards.
True to Porsche's reputation, the Carrera 3.2 offered the unique experience of driving
pleasure and performance without sacrificing comfort and usability. Due to their robust
construction and strong owner's groups, these 1980s 911s are great cars to be enjoyed and
driven.
THE MOTORCAR OFFERED
Finished in its original, spectacular, special-order Cassis Red over Burgundy color combination, this highly desirable 3.2 liter/G50 5-speed cabriolet is beautifully well-preserved throughout in accordance with careful stewardship and fewer than 70,500 miles from new.
A brown top, black-center Fuchs, whale tail wing, and iridescent Cassisrot paint, with its mesmerizing, ever-shifting, oil-on-water color, lends this car a beautiful and distinct look. Top up or down, included full tonneau in place or stowed, this stunning Carrera 3.2 elicits looks of admiration from all directions.
Inside, burgundy leather is icing on the rose-colored cake, and represents a truly inspired choice on the part of its original owner and spec-chooser. From steering wheel to long, wand-like shifter, the interior appears to remain largely factory standard excluding a Pioneer CD player head unit. The above-mentioned full tonneau is quite a neat option, allowing the car to be parked top-down while retaining at least a modicum of weather protection and security–additionally, there's something deeply cool about driving with the tonneau zipped open just enough for you to fit behind the wheel.
Power is courtesy a 3.2 liter, single-overhead-cam (per bank), 12-valve, air-cooled, fuel-injected boxer six, mated here with the highly sought-after 5-speed G50 transaxle. Rated at 217 hp and 195 lb-ft, the 3.2 loves to rev and makes the classic air-cooled Porsche symphony, from gruff, offbeat idle to wailing redline crescendo. The car is offered with original factory tools, books, and accessories.
