211 Augustinus, (Pseudo-). Sermones Sancti Augustini ad heremitas. (Straßb., Drucker des Casus breves [Georg Husner], um 1493-94). 4°. 108 unn. Bll. Auberginefarb. Ldr. mit Innenkantenverg., blau u. goldfarb. Buntpapiervors. Schätzpreis: *R (2.400,- €) GW 3006; Hain/Cop. 1998; BMC I, 161; Pr. 724; Goff A 1318; BSB-Ink A 924; IGI (Suppl.) 1037 A; Oates 267; Pell. 1508/9; Polain 504; Ritter, Inc. alsac. I, 59; Voull., Bln. 2524,5 (früher 2512). - "These sermons, attributed to Augustinus, cover a range of subjects: obedience, prudence, prayer, the Nativity. Particularly appropriate for the eremitical monks to whom they were addressed is one sermon on the three types of monks in Egypt: the hermit, the cenobite, the Sarabaite. The first two are virtuous monks, living a life in the desert and in caves in imitation of Christ and His suffering. The example of these Desert Fathers is to be followed. The third type, the Sarabaite, is dangerous in showing outward similarities to the Desert Fathers while not practicing the same virtuous piety. Active at the same time as the Desert Fathers, the Sarabaites had little organization, lived by no rule and under no superior, and early Christian writers... condemned them for their apparent lack of discipline. The Pseudo-Augustinus makes certain to distinguish the Sarabaites from the good H&H 113.
