Beschreibung:

The Aston Martin V8 survived the changes of ownership and financial upheavals of the 1970s, appearing in countless variants, one of the more exclusive being the Volante convertible. Introduced in response to customers' demands for such a car, the latter first appeared in June 1978. Arguably the ultimate in soft-top luxury, the newcomer boasted a lined, power-operated hood which, when erected, endowed the walnut embellished interior with all the solidity and refinement associated with the saloon version. Although its open-car aerodynamics meant that top speed suffered with the hood down, the Volante's 140mph maximum nevertheless ranked it among the world's fastest convertibles. Mechanically the Volante followed the equivalent V8 or Vantage saloon of the period, and in 1986 benefited from the re-introduction of fuel injection along with its closed cousin. Maximum power, which had dropped somewhat over the years, was restored to 305bhp in this final, Series 5 version. V8 Volante chassis numbers ran from 15001 to 15849, a total of 849 cars. This V8 Volante was acquired by its present owner in 1994 at 12,000 miles, and has now covered c.65,000 in total. The car has benefited from considerable expenditure while in this ownership, a total of £54,000 being spent at Desmond Smail between 1994 and 2000, and a further £11,000 at GTC Engineering over the past two years. Recent work has included replacing the sills, wing bottoms and rear jacking points (May 2000), new mohair hood and reconditioned automatic gearbox (February 2001 at 58,000 miles), new ECU (November 2001) and power assisted steering overhaul (March 2002). Additional noteworthy features include 'un-leaded' cylinder head conversion and special covers for the rear seats, the latter never having been used. Finished in blue with blue-piped cream interior, the car is presented in very good condition throughout and comes with fresh MoT and Swansea V5.
