Beginning in the early 1970s, Porsche had demonstrated the worth of an exhaust-driven turbine for developing tremendous power for a given engine displacement, astounding the racing community with its World Endurance Championship-winning 917s. The company was quick to adapt turbocharging to its Group 4 Type 934 and Group 5 Type 935 racing coupes, basing those ferocious machines on the street-driven Type 930. Throughout the later 1970s and into the 1980s, the 930 evolved into an ever-more sophisticated, luxurious, and powerful road car. By 1987, the Turbo boasted a 3.3-liter engine, which was connected to a smooth four-speed manual transaxle and could produce 282 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 289 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm, The ventilated brake rotors were drilled for increased efficiency, and a large intercooler was housed within the “Tea-tray” rear spoiler. The 1987 930 Turbo, of which 1,695 were built for the U.S. market and another 786 for the “Rest of the World” (RoW), was capable of a near-160 mph top speed. Type 930. 282 bhp, 3,164 cc SOHC horizontally opposed air-cooled six-cylinder engine with a single turbocharger and Bosch electronic fuel injection, Type 930/36 four-speed manual transmission, independent front and rear suspension, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. This particular model comes with an upgraded limited slip differential and is a very rare original non-sunroof example. Finished in the traditional Porsche colour scheme of Grand Prix white, complemented by black leather interior. This particular two owner example showing 72000km with all tools and spare wheel has original leather seats, trim, and exterior paintwork. Delivered new as a non-sunroof model of which a limited number where produced with the very sought after extra of a factory fitted limited slip differential coupled with a four-speed gearbox. Supplied with a UK Mot until June 2018 and all paper work including invoices and receipts of recent work carried out including new brake pads, discs and a full service. A great example of one of the poster cars of the ‘80s.
