1982 ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA FOUR DOOR SALOON Chassis no. L00L 1373 Old English Pewter with beige leather interior. Engine: V8, twin overhead camshafts to each bank, 5340cc, 350bhp Gearbox: three speed automatic; Suspension: independent front with wishbones, rear de Dion with coil springs all round; Brakes: four-wheel servo assisted vented disc; Left hand drive. The Aston Martin Lagonda V8 of 1976 represented a dramatic change in direction for a manufacturer that, although it had built fine luxury cars, was primarily known for its high speed Grand Tourers. Their intention was to build a luxury car radically more advanced than anything known to be in the mind of any possible competitor. This William Towns-styled creation was successfully kept under wraps until Press Day at the London Motor Show in Autumm 1976. Its extravagant knife-edge styling, superb mechanical specification and host of technically advanced details including computerised electronic circuitry and controls, brough deserved international attention and approval. It was built at Newport Pagnell to Aston Martin's highest standards, a sumptuously equipped four-seater, four door saloon. This Aston Martin Lagonda is believed to have covered 40,985 kilometres from new. The present vendor acquired it in 1990 and then returned it to the Aston Martin factory for test and inpection, following which a full restoration was undertaken. The documentation provided by the company records the work carried out: every conceivable symptom of wear or corrosion in the chassis, engine and transmission was attented to. The car's running gear, body panels and underlying structure, ancillary systems, wiring loom, instrumentation, seats, interior trim and even carpets, was rectified before it was resprayed over now-faultless bare metal to Aston Martin standards. Finally, all external hardware and brightwork was re-finished to a commensurate standard. This inspiring car provides the discerning collector with an opportunity to acquire a vehicle that has been restored to the highest possible standards by the factory which originally built it.
