This Series II Corniche, delivered new to Barclays, of Oxford, is one of only 1,159 coupes manufactured between 1971 and 1981 when production of the rarer closed model ended. Following two private owners, the car became the property of The Owner's Club Ltd, of Merton, Surrey, who completely restored it in 1998. It was purchased from them by the present owner in 2000. The car has been converted from Rolls-Royce to Bentley Corniche specification and is in immaculate condition throughout. At the time of restoration in 1998 it also underwent modernisation, receiving a 1989 Silver Spirit fuel-injection engine, as fitted to the contemporary Corniche Convertible. The suspension has been updated with a Harvey Bailey handling kit, and the vehicle is reported as running very smoothly and possessing excellent roadholding. A brand new sunroof has been installed, with a minimal reduction in headroom, and the body re-finished in Midnight Blue metallic with colour-matched front and rear bumpers. The interior is trimmed in parchment Connolly hide with navy blue piping, while the carpets and over-mats are a matching shade of navy blue. The Bentley Turbo R alloy wheels complement the body perfectly, ensuring that this vehicle looks every bit as good as it drives. Since completion of these extensive works, which cost in excess of £60,000, the car has covered barely 12,000 miles. Relatively inexpensive when compared to today's luxury models, this unique Corniche is presented in immaculate condition, taxed and MoT'd and ready for daily use. The closest inspection is invited.
