Left hand drive. Launched in 1961, the E-Type Jaguar displayed the superb lines of its illustrious ancestry. Built to succeed the XK range, the model's sleek and flowing form was an immediate sensation. Originally powered by a 3.8 litre engine and later upgraded to a 4.2, the car also received four wheel disc brakes and fully independent suspension. The E-Type became an even more superior perfomance car in 1971 when the 5.3 liter V12 (Jaguar's first new engine since the debut of the XK120) was available. With 241 horsepower and the smooth V12, the Jaguar was refined, yet exciting. Prior to 1971, only Ferrari and Lamborghini provided this combination, but at a much higher price. This particular example was originally delivered to British Motor Car Distributors Ltd. of California. The car was then sold to its first owner, Ms. Patricia Marie O'Donnell of Anaheim, California. In 1977 Ms. O'Donnell sold the car to its second and present owner who has since kept the car as a very low mileage and original example. The owner reports that the car is in highly original condition and has only received minor touch up work as needed. The interior is also very original and as a result does show some minor wear on the seats and in some of the higher stress areas. Current mileage shows just under 28,000, which is believed to be correct. The car is complete with with its hammer, jack and tool roll, both hard and soft tops, original MSRP sticker and fully functional 8 track cassette deck. This E-Type also has the distinction of being the National Class VII Champion in 1981, 1982 and 1983. In the three years of show competition the Jaguar scored an impressive average of 99.93. The vendor reports that all related documentation will be provided. This example would be a highly suitable contender in the new JCNA Preservation Class, or as a superb and spirited driver.
